    Om denna klocka

Now available at auction from Second Vintage This mid-century IWC dress watch is defined by its heavily patinated dial, which has developed a consistent stardust spotting over the decades. Housed in a substantial 37 mm case with a thick 80-micron gold plating, the timepiece is powered by the highly regarded manual-wind Caliber 89 movement, offering classic proportions and distinct visual character. Brand: IWC Serial Number: 1318235 Movement: Manual wind IWC Caliber 89, 17 Jewels Dial: Heavily patinated with consistent spotting and gold-tone faceted indices Case Size: 37 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold-plated (80 microns) Production Year: 1950s Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +10+13s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The dial is heavily patinated, displaying heavy, even spotting and freckling across the entire surface that creates a consistent stardust effect. Applied gold-tone faceted indices mark the hours, while the printed International Watch Co SCHAFFHAUSEN SWISS text remains clearly legible despite the extensive aging. The minute track dots are fully intact. The time is indicated by gold-tone dauphine hands that show surface oxidation and minor spotting visible under magnification. There is no luminous material present on the dial or hands. Case and Crystal The 37 mm case features classic mid-century dress watch proportions, constructed with a thick gold plating marked PLAQUE OR LAMINE 80 MICRONS inside the caseback. The smooth bezel is integrated directly into the case design. The case and bezel exhibit honest wear, presenting moderate surface scratches and handling marks throughout, while the lugs show some softening of their edges from use. Visible green oxidation, or verdigris, is present around the hidden caseback seating edge. The unsigned coin-edge crown shows noticeable plating wear and oxidation. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, bearing minor surface scratches visible in reflected light. Movement Inside the case is the manual-wind IWC Caliber 89, featuring 17 jewels. The movement appears generally clean with minor surface marks, and the screw heads show minor wear. The bridge is clearly engraved with INTERNATIONAL WATCH Co, SWISS, 17 JEWELS, C 89, and the movement serial number 1418530. Recording +10+13s/day on the timegrapher. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring an alligator pattern and contrasting beige stitching. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial exhibits heavy, consistent spotting and freckling throughout its surface. The gold-plated case displays moderate surface scratches, handling marks, and softened lug edges, alongside visible green oxidation around the caseback seating edge. The unsigned crown shows noticeable plating wear and oxidation, while the domed acrylic crystal bears minor surface scratches. Timegrapher results reflect strong current performance from the Caliber 89 movement. Dimensions Case Size: 37 mm (excluding the crown) Remarks This IWC offers a compelling mix of mid-century design and robust mechanical engineering. The thick 80-micron gold-plated case, the highly distinct stardust patina on the dial, and the renowned Caliber 89 movement make this a charismatic vintage dress watch. History The IWC Caliber 89 is a celebrated manual-wind movement introduced in the late 1940s. Developed by Albert Pellaton, the caliber became a foundation of IWC's mid-century production, known for its reliable architecture and precise timekeeping. During the 1950s, this robust movement powered many of the brand's classic dress watches, securing its reputation among mechanical watch enthusiasts.
