This striking Seiko Lord Matic immediately commands attention with its exceptionally clean dark grey sunburst dial and distinctive 1970s TV-screen case geometry. Dial and Hands
The dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, showcasing a dark grey to black sunburst finish. Applied block indices with white inserts provide excellent contrast, perfectly matched by the applied Seiko and LM logos. The printing remains crisp, with no visible moisture damage or significant spotting. At three o'clock, a framed window displays the date alongside the English and Kanji day wheel. The baton-style hands feature matching white central stripes and present clean surfaces with minimal signs of oxidation. The sweep second hand remains straight and cleanly finished.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case features a distinctive TV-screen or square cushion shape. The geometry is preserved with brushed top surfaces transitioning to polished flanks. The case exhibits honest vintage wear, with moderate surface scratches and light wear consistent with age, while the edges remain reasonably defined. The knurled crown, which is unsigned, sits slightly recessed into the case flank. The flat crystal follows the square profile with rounded corners and remains generally clear, showing some minor surface scratches visible under direct light.
Movement
Inside this Lord Matic beats the Seiko caliber 5606, a respected 23-jewel automatic movement known for powering the brand's mid-tier luxury lines during this era. Timegrapher testing indicates +60+62s/day. Running in operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the watch.
Strap
The watch is paired with a black leather strap featuring contrasting white stitching. This modern strap complements the dark dial beautifully and appears to be in new or very lightly used condition.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The watch displays honest vintage wear across the case, with moderate surface scratches that respect the original geometry. The dial and hands are exceptionally well-preserved, standing out as the strongest visual assets of this timepiece. The crystal shows only minor surface scratches under direct light. The movement is running in operational condition.

History
Introduced in the late 1960s, the Seiko Lord Matic line was positioned just below the prestigious King Seiko and Grand Seiko collections. Powered by the sophisticated 5600 series of movements, the Lord Matic offered high-quality finishing and reliable automatic calibers to a broad audience. During the 1970s, Seiko experimented heavily with case shapes and dial textures, resulting in the distinctive square and cushion cases that came to define the era's aesthetic. Today, these models are appreciated for their reliable mechanical foundations and expressive period designs.
