Dial and Hands
The dial features an exceptionally clean silver sunburst finish, showing no visible staining or moisture damage. Applied faceted indices are bright and free of heavy oxidation, complemented by crisp, fully intact black printed text. The inner rotating alarm indicator ring remains clean with clear markings, and the day/date window frame is sharp and well-preserved. Dauphine style hands with black central stripes display clean metal surfaces and minimal signs of oxidation, while the alarm indicator hand is distinct and correctly positioned, making the entire display clean and highly legible.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case retains its original geometry, featuring brushed upper lug surfaces that transition cleanly to polished flanks. The case exhibits honest vintage wear, with moderate surface scratches and scuffs consistent with age and normal use, yet the edges remain relatively well-defined without severe softening. The smooth polished steel bezel shows light surface wear and minor scuffs. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, remaining clear with no major cracks, chips, or deep crazing, though some light surface scratches are visible under specific lighting. The main crown at 3 o'clock is unsigned, and the alarm pusher at 2 o'clock is structurally sound. On the reverse, the caseback displays clear, deep engravings alongside light surface scratches.
Movement
Powering the watch is the Seiko caliber 4006A automatic alarm movement, featuring 27 jewels. The movement presents a generally clean appearance, showing some minor surface marks and light wear on the rotor and plates, but remains free of severe corrosion, heavy staining, or obvious damage. Engravings reading SEIKO, 27 JEWELS, 4006A, and JAPAN are clearly visible. Recording +25+28s/day on the timegrapher. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. The movement was serviced on 29 June 2026.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. It appears lightly used, showing minor creasing near the lugs, and provides an attractive modern complement to the vintage case.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The movement was serviced on 29 June 2026 and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is running strong and steady. The dial is exceptionally well-preserved and clean. The case displays honest vintage wear with moderate scratches, maintaining its structural integrity and sharp engravings. The crystal and bezel show only light surface wear consistent with age and use.

Remarks
The 27-jewel Bell-Matic is highly sought-after by Seiko collectors, offering a more premium configuration than the standard 17-jewel models. Finding one with such a remarkably clean dial and crisp caseback engravings makes this an excellent opportunity to acquire a classic mechanical alarm timepiece.
History
Introduced in the late 1960s, the Seiko Bell-Matic series brought the mechanical alarm complication to a wider audience, combining practical functionality with robust automatic movements. The caliber 4006 powered these distinctive watches, which were offered in both 17-jewel and the more premium 27-jewel configurations. The series remains a notable achievement in Japanese watchmaking, celebrated by collectors for its engineering and diverse aesthetic variations during the 1970s.
