Dial and Hands
The dial displays heavy, uniform spotting and discoloration across its entire surface, creating a highly textured, heavily degraded character. Despite this extensive patina, the printed text remains remarkably legible. Applied gold-tone Arabic numerals and dart indices provide a warm contrast against the aged background, complemented by a sub-seconds dial at six o'clock featuring a concentric texture. The gold-tone dauphine hands exhibit visible oxidation and spotting on their surfaces, aligning perfectly with the watch's aged aesthetic.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case features a polished finish and a smooth polished steel bezel. It shows honest vintage wear, with moderate surface scratches, scuffs, and signs of use consistent with its age. The lugs retain a decent shape, though some softening of the edges is present. The watch is fitted with an Omega-signed crown featuring a knurled edge that shows some wear. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, displaying minor surface scratches visible under direct light.
Movement
Inside the case beats the manual-wind Omega Caliber 265, featuring 15 jewels and copper-colored movement plates. The movement maintains a clean overall appearance, with minor scratches noted on the ratchet wheel. Engravings including "OMEGA", "SWISS", the 12411289 serial number, and "265" are clearly visible. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The movement was serviced.
Strap
The watch is paired with an excellent condition black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. It is secured by an Omega-signed steel pin buckle.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The movement was serviced and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly. The case shows moderate surface scratches and edge softening consistent with decades of use. The dial and hands are heavily patinated, with uniform spotting, oxidation, and discoloration throughout. The crystal has minor scratches, and the leather strap remains in excellent condition.
Dimensions
The case measures 33mm in diameter, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This Omega offers a highly distinctive look for collectors who appreciate heavy, natural dial aging. The combination of a beautifully degraded dial, the reliable Caliber 265 movement, and the inclusion of a signed buckle makes this a compelling mid-century timepiece.
