Dial and Hands
The matte black dial is preserved in excellent condition, serving as a striking backdrop for the luminous plots that have aged to a uniform and highly attractive creamy patina. All printed text remains crisp and intact across the surface, while the applied Omega logo is notably clean. The hands match the dial patina well, completing the cohesive vintage aesthetic. Under magnification, the metal frames of the hands show minor oxidation and aging, consistent with the production year of the watch.
Case and Crystal
The 38mm stainless steel case features a brushed finish and displays honest wear consistent with age and use. The case flanks and lugs show moderate scratches and scuffs, and while the edges remain reasonably defined, they exhibit visible signs of wear. The black dive bezel insert presents some light scratches and wear, with minor dings and scratches also visible along the steel bezel edge. The crown is signed with the Omega logo and shows light wear on its knurling. The flat crystal remains clear, with no significant scratches or chips visible.
Movement
Inside the watch is the Omega caliber 1438 quartz movement, marked with six jewels. The quartz module appears clean and well-preserved, showing no visible battery leakage or corrosion.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed integrated stainless steel bracelet, secured by a signed Omega clasp. The bracelet feels sturdy and original, displaying normal wear in the form of moderate desk diving scratches across the links and the clasp. It accommodates a maximum wrist size of 19cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The watch displays honest wear consistent with its 1991 production, with moderate scratches and scuffs visible on the case and bracelet. The bezel insert and edge show light wear and minor dings. The dial is the standout feature, beautifully preserved in excellent condition with a strong, uniform creamy patina on the luminous elements. The quartz movement is clean and visually well-preserved.
Dimensions
The case measures 38mm in diameter, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This Seamaster Professional is a compelling example of Omega's late-twentieth-century design language. Its strongest attributes are the striking creamy patina across the dial and hands, alongside the retention of its original integrated bracelet. It remains a highly distinctive and enjoyable vintage timepiece.
History
The Omega Seamaster Professional 200M, often referred to by collectors as the "Pre-Bond" Seamaster, was introduced in the late 1980s. It represented a transitional era for Omega's dive watches, bridging the gap between the robust tool watches of the 1970s and the modern Seamaster 300M line that would follow in the mid-1990s. Characterized by its integrated bracelet, scalloped bezel, and distinctive hands, the model was offered in both automatic and quartz variations. The quartz caliber 1438 provided reliable timekeeping for this generation, establishing a design language that remains appreciated by enthusiasts of early 1990s sports watches.
