The typography is crisp, with a serif "OMEGA" print and "SWISS MADE" clearly visible at the six o'clock position. The hands are matching black baton style, providing excellent legibility against the bright silver background. Thorough inspection reveals the dial is exceptionally well-preserved, remaining clean and free of visible spotting, stains, or print loss, representing a stunningly pristine vintage presentation.
Case and Crystal
The 17mm stainless steel case features a polished finish with sharp, angular lugs that retain their factory profile and crisp edges. The case flanks are clean, showing only light, honest handling marks consistent with careful vintage wear. The snap-on caseback has a subtle brushed finish and is fully hallmarked internally with the reference 511.166. A standout feature of this timepiece is its highly faceted, prism-cut crystal, which acts as a geometric light-catching frame around the dial, creating a brilliant, jewelry-like optical effect. The crystal is in excellent condition, allowing a clear and striking view of the dial. The watch is fitted with a signed Omega scalloped crown.
Movement
Inside the case beats the Omega Caliber 484, a manual-wind mechanical movement featuring 17 jewels. The movement is beautifully finished with Omega's signature copper-toned plating, which remains vibrant and remarkably clean. Close inspection of the movement reveals crisp engravings, including the caliber marking 484 and the serial number 24519618. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher results indicate a performance of +15 to +19 seconds per day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a period-correct black leather strap with tonal stitching, perfectly complementing the classic and elegant aesthetic of the silver dial and steel case.
Condition
This Omega is presented in excellent vintage condition. The case remains sharp with well-defined lugs and only minor, age-appropriate surface wear. The standout silver sunburst dial is flawlessly preserved, showing no signs of moisture damage or discoloration. History
Throughout the mid-20th century, Omega dedicated substantial resources to crafting elegant, high-precision timepieces for women. Unlike many brands that relied on third-party movements for their smaller watches, Omega developed dedicated, in-house miniature calibers like the 484 to ensure their ladies' collections met the same exacting chronometric standards as their men's lines. Watches like this reference 511.166 reflect an era when mechanical sophistication and delicate, jewelry-inspired design were seamlessly integrated.
