Dial and Hands
The dial is an exceptionally clean and attractive silver sunburst, remaining in excellent preserved condition. It features applied steel indices with black onyx-style inserts, complemented by an applied Omega logo. The printed text remains crisp and fully intact, while the original lume plots are present but naturally aged. In contrast to the pristine dial, the original stick hands with black central stripes show noticeable age-related degradation. There is visible oxidation, pitting, and corrosion across the metal surfaces, and the luminous material has darkened and degraded over time.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel monocoque (front-loading) case remains in honest vintage condition. It displays light surface scratches consistent with normal wear, while the lugs retain good shape with only minor handling marks. The smooth integrated steel bezel shows similar light wear. Turning the watch over reveals a notably sharp and well-defined Seamaster hippocampus medallion on the caseback. The watch is fitted with a signed Omega crown featuring a scalloped edge design in good condition with minor wear. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, remaining generally clear with some minor surface scratches and dust visible under harsh lighting.
Movement
Powering this Seamaster De Ville is an automatic Omega caliber housed within the front-loading monocoque case. The timegrapher records -5s-8s/day with strong amplitude. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is paired with a versatile black leather strap featuring an alligator-style pattern and white contrast stitching. It appears to be in lightly used condition.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial is excellently preserved with a strong sunburst effect, while the hands exhibit noticeable oxidation, pitting, and lume degradation. The stainless steel case shows honest, age-appropriate wear with light scratches, but the caseback medallion remains exceptionally crisp. The movement is running very strongly, supported by excellent timegrapher results.
Dimensions
34mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Seamaster De Ville offers a highly attractive combination of a pristine sunburst dial and a sharp caseback engraving. Its strong mechanical performance makes it an excellent choice for those seeking a reliable and elegant mid-century dress watch.
