Dial and Hands
The dial features a beautifully preserved, vertically brushed silver finish that provides an attractive texture under the light. It is presented with a clean overall appearance, showing minimal spotting or degradation. The hour markers are applied with black inserts, complementing the day-date aperture. The stick hands also feature black inserts and luminous material; the metal surfaces of the hands display visible oxidation and aging, while the lume shows consistent aging that matches the character of the watch perfectly.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case features a distinctive TV-shaped profile, characterized by brushed top surfaces and polished flanks. The crisp overall geometry has been preserved, though the case shows honest wear consistent with age and regular use, including moderate surface scratches and small dings visible throughout. A polished bezel rim is integrated into the case design, displaying surface scratches and minor nicks consistent with the rest of the case. The watch is fitted with a signed Omega crown that shows wear and accumulation in its knurled grooves. The flat crystal remains clear, with no major deep scratches or chips visible.
Movement
Inside beats the Omega Caliber 1020, an unadjusted 17-jewel automatic movement. The copper-colored plating presents a clean appearance, showing only minor surface marks on the rotor. The caliber, jewel count, and serial number 45400030 are clearly engraved on the movement. On the timegrapher, it recorded -6s-10s/day with strong amplitude. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed flat-link stainless steel bracelet, culminating in an Omega signed clasp. The integrated-style bracelet shows moderate surface scratches and wear throughout, consistent with the case, and accommodates a maximum wrist size of up to 17.5cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial remains remarkably clean and well-preserved, while the hands show expected oxidation and aging. The stainless steel case and original bracelet display honest wear, with moderate surface scratches and small dings that do not detract from the crisp overall geometry. The crystal is clear and free of major scratches. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 33 mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Seamaster is an excellent example of Omega's late 1970s and early 1980s design language, retaining its original integrated bracelet and distinctive TV-dial format. The beautifully textured silver dial and strong movement performance make this a highly compelling vintage configuration.
History
The Omega Seamaster line has continually evolved since its introduction in 1948, adapting to the stylistic shifts of each passing decade. By the late 1970s and early 1980s, Omega embraced geometric, television-shaped cases and integrated bracelets, reflecting a broader industry trend toward bold, architectural watch design. The Caliber 1020, introduced during this era, provided reliable automatic winding with a practical day-date complication. Watches from this period represent a fascinating transition in Omega's production, combining traditional mechanical watchmaking with distinctively modern aesthetics.
