Dial and Hands
The exceptionally clean and well-preserved dial features a sunburst champagne and silver finish that catches the light beautifully from every angle. Applied gold-tone indices with black inserts complement the applied Omega logo perfectly, while crisp black printing ensures excellent legibility across the dial surface. Intact lume plots remain positioned at the outer edge of the indices. The matching gold-tone baton hands feature black inserts and lume strips, sweeping over the dial alongside a dedicated sweep seconds hand. Under magnification, minor oxidation is visible on the hands, maintaining an honest original appearance that matches the character of the dial.
Case and Crystal
The 35mm gold-plated midcase presents honest wear consistent with its age, featuring classic straight lugs and a smooth gold-tone bezel that frames the dial. Minor scratches and light plating wear are visible on the sharp edges and lug tips, alongside light surface scratches on the bezel itself. The watch retains its clearly signed gold-tone Omega crown, displaying good definition on the knurling for easy winding. The stainless steel caseback provides a durable contrast to the gold-plated upper surfaces, completing the traditional dress watch profile. A clear domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, showing no significant scratches or crazing.
Movement
Inside the case beats the reliable Omega Caliber 601, a highly regarded manual wind movement featuring 17 jewels and adjusted to two positions. The movement displays a clean copper-colored finish with crisp factory engravings, showing no obvious signs of corrosion or moisture damage. Minor tool marks are present on some screw heads from past maintenance. The timegrapher recorded 7s+11s/day with strong amplitude. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The movement was serviced on 29 June 2026.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a handsome brown leather strap featuring contrast white stitching. The strap shows light signs of wear and pairs wonderfully with the gold-tone case, providing a comfortable and traditional fit for the wrist.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The movement was serviced on 29 June 2026 and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly. The case shows honest wear with minor scratches and light plating loss on the edges and lug tips. The dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, while the hands show minor oxidation visible under magnification. The domed acrylic crystal is clear, and the movement remains clean and well-maintained.
Dimensions
The case measures 35mm in diameter, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This Genève offers a beautifully preserved sunburst dial alongside the dependable Caliber 601 movement. The classic 1970s proportions and signed Omega crown make it a highly wearable and attractive vintage dress watch.
History
The Omega Genève line was initially introduced as a tribute to the city of Geneva, eventually becoming a significant part of Omega production through the 1960s and 1970s. Produced in substantial numbers, the Genève series offered an accessible but highly regarded entry into vintage Omega ownership. These watches frequently utilized the same robust, high-quality movements found in the Seamaster and Constellation lines, such as the Caliber 601. Today, they are appreciated by collectors for their clean designs, reliable mechanical performance, and classic mid-century proportions.
