    Om denne klokken

Now available at auction from Second Vintage This elegant ladies' Omega Genève is a wonderful representation of mid-century watchmaking, combining delicate proportions with serious mechanical pedigree. While many diminutive vintage ladies' watches relied on simple manual-wind movements, this timepiece is powered by the impressive Caliber 671, a sophisticated automatic movement packed into a remarkably small footprint. The watch is distinguished by its highly faceted crystal, a quintessential design hallmark of the era that catches the light from every angle. It offers a beautiful balance of vintage charm, robust Swiss engineering, and timeless aesthetic appeal. Brand: Omega Model: Genève Reference Number: 551.049 Serial Number: 30837923 Movement: Automatic Caliber 671, 24 Jewels Dial: Silver sunburst dial with applied faceted gold-tone indices, presenting in exceptionally clean condition with no visible spotting Case Size: 20 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold-plated (20 microns) with stainless steel caseback Production Year: Circa 1970 Condition: Good vintage condition with a pristine dial and age-consistent wear to the case and crystal Dial and Hands The watch features a beautiful silver dial with a subtle, radiating sunburst texture that remains exceptionally well-preserved. Careful inspection reveals a remarkably clean surface, completely free of spots, moisture marks, stains, or discoloration, standing as a testament to the dial's pristine preservation over the decades. The dial furniture includes an applied gold-tone Omega logo and applied faceted baton hour markers featuring black central inserts. These indices are perfectly complemented by the black stick hour and minute hands, providing excellent legibility against the light silver background. The printed black typography, including "OMEGA AUTOMATIC" and "Genève," remains crisp, intact, and fully legible. Case and Crystal The 20mm case is executed in 20-micron gold plating and features elegant, straight lugs that maintain their defined profile. The case exhibits honest signs of vintage wear, including fine surface scratches and light handling marks consistent with its age, particularly around the bezel and lug facets. The signed Omega crown shows some light brassing on the knurling but remains original to the timepiece. The stainless steel snap-on caseback is cleanly finished and properly engraved internally with the reference 551.049 and gold-plating hallmarks. The watch is fitted with a highly faceted acrylic crystal that produces a striking visual effect. The crystal exhibits prominent age-related crazing and micro-cracking around its entire perimeter, a common characteristic of vintage faceted acrylic, though it continues to protect the pristine dial beneath. Movement Powering this elegant timepiece is the Omega Caliber 671, a beautifully engineered automatic movement featuring 24 jewels and adjusted to two positions. The copper-toned movement presents very cleanly, with the rotor clearly signed "OMEGA WATCH Co." and the serial number 30837923 sharply engraved on the bridge, dating production to approximately 1970. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Timegrapher results show an impressive -2 to -6 seconds per day with strong amplitude. Strap The watch is fitted with a period correct black leather strap featuring a subtle texture and contrasting yellow stitching that perfectly complements the gold-plated case. The strap appears in excellent, lightly worn condition and secures with a standard tang buckle. Condition This Omega Genève is presented in good vintage condition. The dial is the clear highlight, remaining exceptionally clean and perfectly preserved. The gold-plated case shows normal, honest wear and surface marks expected from decades of use, while the stainless steel caseback is well-preserved. The original faceted acrylic crystal shows heavy crazing and edge wear, which adds a distinct vintage character but should be noted by the collector. The automatic movement is running exceptionally well. Dimensions The case measures 20 mm in diameter, excluding the signed crown. Remarks This piece represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire a mechanically sophisticated vintage ladies' Omega. The combination of the beautifully preserved sunburst dial, the intricate faceted crystal, and the high-grade automatic movement makes this a compelling addition to any collection or a wonderful vintage daily wearer. History The Omega Genève line was introduced in the 1950s as a tribute to the city of Geneva, where Omega's most rigorously tested chronometers were evaluated. By the late 1960s and 1970s, the Genève collection had evolved into Omega's most expansive and versatile range, offering everything from robust steel sports watches to elegant, jewelry-inspired ladies' pieces. The line was known for democratizing Omega's high-quality movements and innovative case designs, capturing the dynamic and varied aesthetics of the era while maintaining the brand's uncompromising mechanical standards. / Second Vintage SKU: OME-OGA-0019
