Dial and Hands
The exceptionally clean and well-preserved silver dial features a striking vertical brushing that interacts beautifully with the light. It is detailed with applied black-insert indices, an applied Omega logo, and the signature Constellation star. The surface remains free of any significant spotting or visible damage. The matching black baton hands are original, showing minor surface wear and slight oxidation visible under magnification, adding honest age-related character to the display.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel C-shape case retains its original brushed finish, presenting honest wear consistent with age. Visible scratches and small dings are present on the case flanks and the integrated brushed bezel. The caseback medallion is completely intact and shows some wear, though the signature observatory stars remain visible. The watch is fitted with a knurled crown signed with the Omega logo, which shows light wear. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, displaying some light surface scratches visible in reflected light.
Movement
Inside beats the copper-toned automatic Omega caliber 564. The movement is engraved with twenty-four jewels and adjusted to five positions and temperature. It presents a generally clean appearance, with some minor marks on the screw heads and light surface wear. The timegrapher recorded +10+12s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed stainless steel brick-link bracelet, secured by a signed Omega folding clasp. The end links are stamped with the number 518. The bracelet displays honest character with moderate scratches and wear consistent with age, accommodating a maximum wrist size of 19 cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The watch displays honest wear across the case and bracelet, with visible scratches and small dings on the flanks, bezel, and acrylic crystal. The dial remains exceptionally clean and well-preserved, while the hands show slight oxidation. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly.
Dimensions
The case measures 34 mm, excluding the crown.
Remarks
This Constellation stands out for its exceptionally clean vertically brushed dial and the enduring appeal of its Gerald Genta-designed C-shape case. Complete with its original brick-link bracelet and a robust chronometer-certified movement, it is a highly capable and attractive collector timepiece.
History
The Omega Constellation has long been recognized as a flagship line of precision chronometers. In the late 1960s, the collection received a significant aesthetic update with the introduction of the C-shape case, penned by the renowned designer Gerald Genta. This fresh geometry moved away from the earlier pie-pan dials and dog-leg lugs, offering a more integrated, modernist profile that perfectly captured the era's evolving tastes. Powered by the highly regarded 500-series chronometer movements, these C-shape models remain a collector favourite for their distinctive design and reliable mechanical performance.
