This sought-after 1959 Omega Seamaster Calendar immediately commands attention through its striking, heavy "stardust" dial patina. The attractive two-tone aesthetic pairs a gold-tone case with a stainless steel seahorse caseback, while the classic configuration is grounded by a framed date window at 3 o'clock. Powered by the reliable Caliber 503 automatic movement, this piece offers highly distinct, even aging that strongly appeals to specific vintage enthusiasts.

Dial and Hands
The dial displays a heavy, pervasive spotting and patina across the entire surface, creating a distinct "stardust" effect. Despite the intense aging, the printed text remains fully legible, and the applied gold-tone Omega logo and faceted indices remain intact. A framed date window sits neatly at 3 o'clock. The gold-tone dauphine hands have aged appropriately alongside the dial, showing visible oxidation and spotting consistent with the watch's overall character.
Case and Crystal
The gold-tone case shows honest vintage wear, with moderate scratches, handling marks, and some wear and softening on the lug edges. The smooth gold-tone bezel exhibits scratches and wear consistent with the rest of the case. An unsigned domed crown shows plating wear and scratches. Turning the watch over reveals a stainless steel press-in caseback featuring a crisp Seamaster seahorse medallion. The domed acrylic crystal is clear, presenting only minor surface scratches visible under direct light.
Movement
Inside beats the Omega Caliber 503 automatic movement, featuring 20 jewels and operating at a frequency of 19,800 A/h. The mechanism displays the copper-colored finishing typical of vintage Omega, with the rotor and bridges showing intact surfaces. The movement appears generally clean with minor superficial marks, bearing crisp engravings including "OMEGA WATCH Co SWISS", "TWENTY 20 JEWELS", "503", and the serial number "17092463". Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The recorded timegrapher result is +8+10s/day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring contrasting beige stitching. The strap shows light wear and pairs nicely with the dark, heavy patina of the dial.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The dial carries a heavy and pervasive patina, while the gold-tone case displays moderate handling wear, scratches, and softening on the lug edges. The hands exhibit noticeable oxidation, and the unsigned crown shows plating wear. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly.

Remarks
This Seamaster Calendar offers an incredibly distinct visual identity for the collector who appreciates heavy, even dial aging. The combination of the striking stardust patina, the classic framed date window, and the reliable full-rotor caliber 503 makes this an expressive and highly individual vintage Omega.
History
The Seamaster Calendar reference 2849 was part of Omega's international collection from 1956 to 1962. It was introduced specifically to house the Caliber 503, which marked an important technical milestone as Omega's first full-rotor automatic movement featuring a date complication. Produced in a versatile 34.5mm case, this reference helped cement the Seamaster's reputation as a robust yet elegant daily companion during the mid-twentieth century.
