Dial and Hands
The striking charcoal grey dial is in exceptional condition, showing no visible spots, stains, or moisture damage. The surface presents a smooth, even texture that plays beautifully with the light. It features applied silver-tone baton hour markers with crisp white central channels that enhance legibility. The polished, faceted hands share this white central striping, creating a cohesive and highly attractive aesthetic. The applied Seiko logo and printed sans-serif "LM Special" typography are sharp and fully intact, accompanied by the iconic Daini Seikosha lightning bolt emblem above the six o'clock position. A framed day-date aperture sits cleanly at the three o'clock mark, completing the well-balanced layout.
Case and Crystal
The 36mm stainless steel case retains strong, well-defined lines and sharp lug profiles, indicative of careful preservation over the decades. The transitions between the brushed top surfaces and polished case flanks remain distinct, showcasing the classic grammar of design principles of the era. The polished bezel frames the dial beautifully and exhibits only minor, honest handling marks. The watch is fitted with a flat Hardlex crystal, which remains clear and free of major distracting scratches, providing an unobstructed view of the pristine dial beneath. The screw-down caseback is clearly engraved with the reference 5206-6130, the serial number 2N0060, and the water resistance markings.
Movement
Inside beats the highly regarded Seiko Caliber 5206A automatic movement, featuring 25 jewels. The movement presents beautifully in the provided photography, with the distinctive red lettering on the rotor clearly visible and intact. Known for its robust architecture and refined precision, this Daini-produced caliber represents a high point in Seiko's mechanical development during this period. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. The recorded timegrapher result is -36-40s/day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a black textured leather strap featuring prominent white contrast stitching. The strap compliments the dark tones of the dial and the white accents of the hands and indices perfectly, securing to the wrist with a standard polished steel pin buckle.
Condition
This Seiko LM Special is in excellent vintage condition. The dial is remarkably clean and well-preserved, standing out as a prime example of the model with no visible degradation. The case exhibits honest, light surface wear consistent with its age, but retains its factory geometry without signs of heavy or careless polishing. The movement is visually clean and fully operational.
