    Informazioni su questo orologio

Now available at auction from Second Vintage A well-preserved example of the foundational Seiko Crown, this timepiece features an exceptionally clean silver sunburst dial. With its elegant dauphine hands and vintage J-series caseback, it represents a highly sought-after era of Japanese watchmaking that directly paved the way for the Grand Seiko line. Brand: Seiko Model: Seiko Crown Reference Number: J15003 Movement: Manual wind, Seikosha caliber 560, 21 jewels Dial: Exceptionally clean silver sunburst with applied gold-tone indices Case Size: 36mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold-tone Production Year: 1960s Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +12+18s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The exceptionally clean and well-preserved silver sunburst dial is a highlight of this timepiece. The applied gold-tone indices are clean and bright, while the printed text remains crisp and fully intact. There is no significant spotting or moisture damage visible. The original gold-tone dauphine hands show moderate age-related oxidation and minor spotting on their surfaces under close inspection. Case and Crystal The 36mm gold-tone case displays honest wear with visible plating loss consistent with age. Significant plating wear and tarnish are present, especially on the rear edges and lug backs. Scratches and handling marks are visible throughout, and the lugs show softening of their edges. A thin gold-tone bezel surrounds the dial, showing scratches and plating wear. The unsigned knurled crown also shows significant plating wear and tarnish. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, remaining clear with no major scratches, cracks, or crazing visible. Movement Inside is the manual wind Seikosha caliber 560 with 21 jewels. The plates and bridges show minor surface marks and light oxidation, while the screws and jewels appear intact. Engravings read "SEIKOSHA", "21 JEWELS", "560", and "F S". The timegrapher records a rate of +12+18s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is paired with a black leather strap featuring contrast stitching. The modern strap shows light wear and complements the vintage aesthetic. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, standing in contrast to the case, which shows significant plating wear, tarnish, and scratches throughout. The hands display moderate oxidation. Dimensions The case measures 36mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Seiko Crown offers a highly appealing combination of a pristine dial and strong mechanical performance. It is a sought-after reference that provides a tangible link to a pivotal era in Japanese horology. History The Seiko Crown was introduced in 1959 to surpass the Seiko Marvel, featuring a larger movement for improved accuracy. The engineering and design of the Seiko Crown served as the direct foundation for the first Grand Seiko model released in 1960. Powered by the manual-wind caliber 560 with 21 jewels, which was manufactured at the Suwa Seikosha factory, reference J15003 is typically attributed by specialists to the peak phase of Crown production around 1962 and 1963.
