Dial and Hands
The dial of this Rado Lumino presents a deep grey surface accented by a subtle horizontal texture that catches the light beautifully. Applied, faceted baton indices mark the hours, featuring polished surfaces that provide excellent contrast against the dark background. The signature Rado rotating anchor logo is prominently positioned below 12 o'clock, set against a red background. The applied Rado name is executed in silver-tone block lettering. A framed date window sits at the 3 o'clock position, displaying black and red numerals on a white disc. The steel baton hands feature luminous inserts that have aged to a warm, even tone. The dial surface remains very clean, displaying only minor, age-appropriate signs of preservation.
Case and Crystal
The 35mm stainless steel case features a robust, tonneau-shaped profile characteristic of the era. The case exhibits a brushed finish on the upper surfaces, contrasting with polished flanks. The lines remain well-defined, though honest signs of regular wear, including light scratches and minor nicks, are visible throughout, particularly on the polished bezel area and case sides. The signed crown, bearing the Rado anchor emblem, is well-preserved. The solid screw-down caseback is deeply engraved with the Rado seahorse and star motif, along with the "Water-Sealed" designation, reference number 11016, and serial number 39610634. The acrylic crystal is domed and presents clearly, protecting the dial within.
Movement
Powering this Lumino is a Swiss-made automatic movement, identified by the base caliber ETA 2824 stamping visible beneath the balance wheel. The rotor is signed "RADO 25 JEWELS" and features a sunburst brushed finish. The movement displays perlage finishing on the base plates. Running in vintage operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the era. The timegrapher result indicates a deviation of -49s-54s/day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with an original integrated-style stainless steel bracelet that complements the case design perfectly. The flat links feature a brushed finish with polished sides. The folding clasp is prominently signed with the Rado name and anchor logo. The bracelet shows typical signs of wear and stretching consistent with its age and use.
Condition
This Rado Lumino is presented in good vintage condition. The case and bracelet show honest wear, with surface scratches and minor handling marks expected from a watch of this era. The dial remains highly attractive, with clean printing and applied elements. The caseback engravings remain sharp and legible.

History
Rado was founded in 1917 as Schlup & Co. in Lengnau, Switzerland, initially producing watch movements. It wasn't until the 1950s that the company began selling watches under the Rado name. The brand quickly gained a reputation for its innovative approach to case design and materials, culminating in the introduction of the DiaStar in 1962, marketed as the world's first scratchproof watch. Rado continued to push boundaries with its distinctive styling and robust construction, cementing its legacy as a forward-thinking Swiss watchmaker.
