Dial and Hands
The silvered dial of this Omega is a masterclass in mid-century restraint, presented in stunning vintage condition. It features a beautifully preserved, even surface completely free of heavy spotting, moisture marks, or significant discoloration. Applied silver-tone faceted baton indices gracefully catch the light, anchored by a distinct double baton at the twelve o'clock position. The iconic Omega horseshoe logo is applied just above the crisp, serif-printed brand name. The original silver-toned dauphine hands display an honest, age-consistent oxidation and subtle patina, perfectly contrasting against the pristine dial surface. A sweeping central seconds hand completes the elegant layout, sweeping above the cleanly printed Swiss Made text at the southern edge.
Case and Crystal
The thirty-four millimeter stainless steel case remains in good vintage condition, exhibiting honest signs of wear consistent with careful enjoyment over the decades. The polished bezel and case flanks display superficial scratches and handling marks, while the sweeping lug profile retains an attractive shape with gently softened transitions. The watch is fitted with a domed acrylic crystal that offers excellent clarity, free of any major deep scratches or clouding that would obscure the dial. The right flank is finished with a well-proportioned, heavily fluted signed Omega crown, making daily winding a tactile pleasure. The snap-on caseback fits securely and presents circular brushing on its exterior face, with sharp interior factory engravings detailing the reference and maker.
Movement
Inside the case resides the revered Omega Caliber 284 manual wind movement. Visual inspection reveals the classic copper-toned plating characteristic of vintage Omega calibers, proudly bearing the seventeen jewels designation, the Omega hallmark, and the clear serial number 16844976. The movement plates and screw heads display honest signs of age and mild tarnishing expected from a mid-century mechanical caliber. Running and operational, offering solid vintage performance. The timegrapher results indicate a current performance of +49 to +55 seconds per day.
Strap
The watch is secured to the wrist by a distinctive black textured leather strap featuring striking brown contrast stitching. The strap compliments the vintage aesthetic perfectly and is fastened with a classic stainless steel pin buckle, offering a comfortable and secure fit for the wearer.
Condition
This timepiece is presented in excellent vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally well-preserved and stands as the undeniable focal point of the watch. The stainless steel case shows moderate, age-appropriate wear without any severe deep impacts or structural damage. The dauphine hands display an attractive and natural patination that confirms the vintage authenticity of the piece. Overall, it is a highly attractive and fundamentally honest example of mid-century Omega craftsmanship.
