This classic 1971 Omega Genève presents a highly attractive vertical textured silver dial, offering a refined aesthetic within a traditional dress watch profile. Powered by a reliable manual-wind movement adjusted to two positions, it is a charming and capable vintage timepiece.
Brand: Omega
Model: Genève
Reference Number: 5110412
Serial Number: 33456626
Movement: Manual-winding Caliber 620, 17 jewels
Dial: Vertically textured silver dial with black printed text and indices
Case Size: 23 mm (excluding the crown)
Case Material: Gold-plated, stainless steel caseback
Production Year: 1971
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Timegrapher: -1-3s/day, performing remarkably well.
Dial and Hands
The dial features a striking vertical textured finish that remains in pristine condition, showing no significant flaws, spotting, or damage. The crisp black printed "OMEGA", "Genève", and "SWISS MADE" text contrasts beautifully against the silver background, matching the sharp black printed indices. The black stick hands exhibit excellent preservation, presenting a clean finish with no visible oxidation.
Case and Crystal
The case features classic 1970s dress watch proportions with an integrated bezel design. It displays honest wear, with scratches and handling marks present throughout. The gold plating shows distinct signs of fading and wear; a yellow gold tone remains visible on the case edge near the crown, while the rest of the case and bezel now appear silver-tone. The stainless steel caseback interior is correctly marked for 20 micron gold plating. The watch retains its well-defined crown, properly signed with the Omega logo. The domed acrylic crystal is clear and free of major chips or cracks, though minor surface scratches are visible in reflections.
Movement
Inside is the Omega Caliber 620 manual-wind movement, engraved with "OMEGA WATCH CO SWISS", "SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS", and "ADJUSTED TWO (2) POSITIONS", alongside the matching serial number. The clean copper-colored plating shows no significant oxidation or damage, and the screw heads display minimal wear. Timegrapher: -1-3s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a complementary black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. The strap shows light wear and pairs handsomely with the textured dial.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The dial and hands are beautifully preserved and free of notable flaws. The case and integrated bezel exhibit honest wear, including general scratches and significant plating fade, leaving much of the watch with a silver-tone appearance outside of the area near the crown. The domed acrylic crystal has minor surface scratches but remains clear. Supported by the timegrapher reading, the mechanical movement is performing with impressive accuracy.
Dimensions
23 mm (excluding the crown)
Remarks
This Genève is defined by its pristine vertically textured dial, which adds wonderful visual depth to a modest and elegant design. Paired with a cleanly preserved, adjusted Caliber 620 movement, it is a highly wearable and attractive vintage Omega.
History
The Omega Genève line was introduced to honor the brand's high-tier watchmaking origins in Geneva. By the late 1960s and early 1970s, the collection had evolved into a versatile and elegant range of dress and everyday watches, known for their clean aesthetics and reliable mechanics. The manual-winding Caliber 620 is a respected and compact movement that allowed Omega to design refined, slender profiles for their timepieces during this era, maintaining the brand's reputation for precision in an elegant format.
