Under macro inspection, minor spotting is visible on the dial surface, adding a touch of honest character. The original dauphine style hands show age-appropriate patina, with visible oxidation and spotting present across their surfaces. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case features a polished finish, exhibiting honest wear consistent with its age in the form of visible surface scratches and handling marks. The lugs retain a generally good shape while showing clear signs of wear from previous use. An integrated, smooth polished bezel surrounds the dial and displays surface scratches matching the rest of the case profile. The unsigned knurled crown shows some wear to the knurling. On the reverse, the caseback reveals scratches and some wear to the factory engravings. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial and remains clear, with no major scratches or cracks visible. Movement Inside beats the manual wind Seikosha caliber 560, featuring nineteen jewels. The movement plates and bridges show some minor marks and light oxidation, while the screw heads appear generally clean. The timegrapher records a rate of -7-9s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. The strap appears to be in very good, lightly used condition, offering a comfortable fit and complementing the vintage character of the timepiece perfectly. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial is beautifully preserved with only minor spotting visible under close inspection, while the hands display expected oxidation and patina. The stainless steel case, integrated bezel, and caseback show honest wear, surface scratches, and handling marks consistent with its age. The movement presents well with minor marks and light oxidation. The timegrapher confirms exceptional performance, recording a rate of -7-9s/day. Dimensions The case measures 34mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Seiko Crown stands out due to its striking concentric circular textured dial and classic dauphine hands. Powered by the historically significant Seikosha caliber 560, it represents a highly appealing standard production model from a defining era of Japanese watchmaking. History Introduced in 1959, the Seiko Crown was designed as a mechanical improvement over the earlier Seiko Marvel and incorporated the brand's proprietary Diashock shock absorption system. The model is considered a pivotal milestone in Japanese watchmaking, as it provided the direct mechanical foundation for the very first Grand Seiko timepieces. Today, the Crown remains an important reference point for collectors of mid-century horology, prized for its classic proportions and mechanical significance.
