À propos de cette montre
Now available at auction from Second Vintage
A distinctive and less common Rado model, this Scheidegg presents a striking 1970s aesthetic characterized by its TV-shaped case and integrated bracelet design. The watch features a highly attractive grey vertically brushed dial, accented by the signature rotating Rado anchor and a vibrant red date display, making it a true collector favourite from a bold era of watchmaking.

Dial and Hands
The well-preserved and visually striking grey dial features a distinct vertical brushed texture. It is detailed with applied faceted indices featuring white inserts, a vibrant red date numeral display, and the signature rotating Rado anchor logo set against a red background. The dial surface remains very clean with minimal signs of degradation. The original baton-style hands display expected age-related oxidation on their metallic surfaces, while the luminous material remains intact but shows natural aging.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case features a distinctive cushion or TV-shaped profile, finished with a brushed front face and polished flanks. The case displays honest vintage wear, with moderate surface scratches and handling marks consistent with its age, though the edges remain reasonably defined. The flat crystal, which is set directly into the case body without a separate bezel, exhibits minor surface scratches and a noticeable vertical crack or deep scratch running near the center-right of the dial. The crown is signed with the Rado anchor logo and shows moderate wear to its knurling. Significant dirt and grime buildup is visible around the internal caseback seating area when the watch is opened.
Movement
Inside beats the reliable caliber 2824 automatic movement, clearly stamped near the balance. The movement features a rotor signed "RADO 25 JEWELS SWISS" and appears relatively clean, contrasting with the heavy dirt present on the inner case perimeter. The timegrapher records a rate of -7-10s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed integrated-style stainless steel flat link bracelet. The clasp is clearly signed with the Rado name and anchor logo. The bracelet exhibits moderate surface scratches and scuffs throughout, consistent with normal wear, and will accommodate a maximum wrist size of 18cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The watch exhibits honest wear across its components, most notably a vertical crack or deep scratch on the crystal near the center-right of the dial. The case and original integrated bracelet show moderate surface scratches and scuffs, while the original hands display visible oxidation. Significant dirt buildup is present around the internal caseback seating area. Despite these cosmetic signs of age, the dial remains exceptionally clean, and the movement is performing very strongly, supported by the recorded timegrapher results.
Dimensions
The case size is 35mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Scheidegg offers a fantastic opportunity to acquire a distinctly 1970s Rado design. Its vibrant red accents, excellent dial preservation, and original integrated bracelet make it a compelling choice for enthusiasts of unconventional vintage timepieces.
History
During the 1970s, Rado boldly experimented with case shapes, materials, and dial textures, carving out a unique identity in the Swiss watch industry. The Scheidegg model, while appearing less frequently than the ubiquitous Diastar or Voyager lines, perfectly represents this era of design innovation. Utilizing the robust ETA 2824 caliber and featuring the brand's trademark rotating anchor logo, it remains a fascinating and highly characteristic example of mid-century Rado styling.
