Dial and Hands
The well-preserved classic dial features a silver sunburst finish complemented by crisp printed text, including the Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified designation. Applied baton indices provide excellent legibility alongside intact lume plots that display an age-appropriate patina. Under macro magnification, minor dust or spotting is visible on the dial surface. The aged original dauphine style hands show visible oxidation and spotting on their metal surfaces, while their lume inserts match the dial plots.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case presents honest vintage wear, showing signs of previous polishing with slightly softened lug edges and moderate surface scratches consistent with age and wear. A distinctive engine-turned steel bezel frames the dial, designed wide and flat with milling that extends from edge to edge. The bezel ridges show some softening from wear and possible polishing. The crown is signed with the Rolex coronet and an underline, maintaining good definition on the logo and knurling. The watch is fitted with a domed acrylic crystal that remains clear, with no major scratches or cracks visible.
Movement
Inside beats the automatic Caliber 1560, clearly engraved with Montres Rolex S.A. Geneva, Twenty Six 26 Jewels, and Adjusted 5 Positions and Temperature. The movement presents a clean overall appearance, with the rotor and bridges showing a good finish and no obvious signs of heavy corrosion or damage. Recording +10+12s/day on the timegrapher. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece.
Strap
The watch is paired with a black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching, which appears in near-new condition.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The case exhibits moderate surface scratches and signs of previous polishing with slightly softened lug edges, while the engine-turned bezel shows softened ridges from wear. The dial remains beautifully preserved with only minor dust or spotting visible under macro magnification, and the original hands display visible oxidation and spotting. The movement is running strong, supported by excellent timegrapher results.
Dimensions
The case measures 34mm (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This Reference 1007 offers a highly recognizable vintage aesthetic with its distinctive engine-turned bezel and classic dauphine hands. The clear factory engravings, including a III.67 caseback date code, alongside the well-preserved silver sunburst dial, make this a compelling example of mid-century Rolex design.
