Dial and Hands
The watch features a mesmerizing blue gradient sunburst dial that transitions from a brilliant azure at the center to a deep navy at the outer edges. It is adorned with prominent applied faceted steel indices that catch the light beautifully, complemented by a silver framed date window at the three o'clock position displaying striking red numerals. The applied Rado anchor logo sits proudly below the twelve o'clock marker, while the printed sans-serif Rado and Spacewing typography remains crisp and fully intact. The faceted dauphine hands are well preserved, exhibiting only light, honest aging consistent with the vintage of the timepiece. The dial surface is remarkably clean, showing an even and highly attractive preservation without significant spotting, print loss, or moisture damage.
Case and Crystal
The 35 mm stainless steel cushion case exemplifies classic 1970s geometry, featuring a beautiful contrast between the vertically brushed upper surfaces and the highly polished case flanks and bezel. The lug profile remains sharp and well defined, indicating careful wear over the decades. A signed Rado crown with the signature anchor motif operates smoothly at the three o'clock position. The watch is fitted with a domed acrylic crystal that sits proud of the bezel, offering clear and distortion-free views of the vibrant dial beneath, showing only faint superficial handling marks.
Movement
Inside beats the Swiss made Rado Caliber 2797 automatic movement, beautifully finished with rich gold tone plates and bridges. The central rotor is clearly signed with the Rado name and notes 25 jewels, while close inspection reveals the 2797 caliber designation stamped near the balance wheel. The movement presents exceptionally well visually, maintaining a bright and clean appearance. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. The timegrapher records a deviation of +38 to +42 seconds per day.
Strap
The timepiece is paired with a handsome black leather strap featuring contrasting white side stitching, secured by a polished stainless steel pin buckle. The strap is supple and complements the vintage aesthetic of the watch perfectly.
Condition
This Rado Spacewing is presented in excellent vintage condition. The dial is exceptionally vibrant and clean, while the case retains its strong factory lines and attractive brushed and polished finishes. The movement is visually pristine and operates reliably.
