    About This Watch

Presented for auction by Second Vintage This Rado Scheidegg captures the distinctive and bold design language of the 1970s. Characterized by its robust cushion case and the brand's signature rotating anchor logo, this timepiece represents an era when Rado was aggressively exploring new shapes and striking dial configurations. The Scheidegg model offers a brilliant mix of brutalist case architecture and a refined, textured dial, making it a highly compelling piece for collectors of vintage Rado and avant-garde 1970s horology. Brand: Rado Model: Scheidegg Reference Number: K295025 Movement: Automatic Caliber 2824 Dial: Silver sunburst with applied faceted indices and rotating anchor logo; excellent preservation Case Size: 35 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless Steel Production Year: 1970s Condition: Excellent vintage condition with a beautifully preserved dial and strong case lines Dial and Hands The dial of this Rado Scheidegg is a remarkable example of vintage preservation. It features a brilliant silver sunburst finish that remains exceptionally clean and free of spots, moisture damage, or prominent aging. The applied, faceted hour markers are intricate, featuring polished surfaces and black central channels that provide excellent legibility and depth. The classic Rado rotating anchor logo is proudly positioned below 12 o'clock, retaining its vibrant red background. The faceted baton hands are crisp, matching the indices perfectly, with a slender sweeping seconds hand completing the layout. The date aperture at 3 o'clock is framed in steel, displaying red numerals on a white disc. The dial text, including the "SCHEIDEGG" script, remains sharp and fully intact. Case and Crystal The 35mm stainless steel cushion case is a quintessential 1970s design, featuring a substantial footprint and a distinctive tonneau silhouette. The case exhibits excellent vintage condition, retaining its original geometry with sharp transitions between the vertically brushed upper surfaces and the polished flanks. Honest, light handling marks and superficial scratches are visible, consistent with careful wear over the decades, but there are no deep gouges or signs of over-polishing. The faceted crystal is a striking feature, adding dynamic reflections and depth to the dial; it shows some light surface wear and minor edge nicks visible under close inspection, but remains highly attractive. The original Rado signed crown is present, featuring the embossed anchor logo. The screw-down caseback is clearly engraved with the Rado "Water-Sealed" seahorse medallion and the reference number K295025. Movement Powering this Scheidegg is a Swiss-made automatic caliber, clearly stamped 2824. The movement presents beautifully, featuring a distinctive engine-turned finishing on the rotor, which is proudly engraved with "RADO 25 JEWELS." The movement architecture is clean, and the balance wheel and jewel settings appear in excellent visual condition. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. The timegrapher results indicate a performance of +18 to +22 seconds per day. Strap The watch is fitted with a period-correct black leather strap featuring a crocodile-grain pattern and contrasting white stitching. The strap is in good condition, showing light signs of wear, and is secured with a standard stainless steel pin buckle. Condition This Rado Scheidegg is in excellent vintage condition. The dial is the standout feature, remaining incredibly clean and vibrant. The faceted crystal, while showing minor vintage wear, adds immense character. The stainless steel case retains its bold 1970s lines and original finishes, showing only honest, age-appropriate wear. The movement is visually clean and operational. Dimensions Case Width: 35 mm (excluding crown) Remarks This is a fantastic opportunity to acquire a highly distinctive vintage Rado. The combination of the faceted crystal, the pristine sunburst dial, and the robust cushion case makes this Scheidegg a superb example of 1970s design. It offers tremendous wrist presence and remains a captivating piece for any vintage enthusiast. History Rado, founded in 1917 as Schlup & Co., began producing watches under the Rado name in the 1950s. By the 1960s and 1970s, the brand had established a reputation for highly original designs and the pioneering use of scratch-resistant materials. The Scheidegg model is a perfect representation of Rado's design philosophy during this era, combining reliable Swiss automatic movements with bold, unconventional case shapes and dynamic dial treatments, cementing Rado's legacy as a true innovator in mid-century horology. / Second Vintage SKU: RAD-RSK-0005
