Brand: Rado
Model: Garland
Reference Number: 625.7914.4
Serial Number: 9140706
Movement: Automatic caliber 2797
Dial: Silver sunburst with applied indices
Case Size: 37mm (excluding the crown)
Case Material: Stainless Steel and Gold-Tone
Production Year: 1970s
Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +47+50s/day, running in operational condition.
Dial and Hands
The silver sunburst dial is exceptionally clean and attractive, presenting a well-preserved finish that catches the light beautifully. All applied indices and the signature Rado logo remain fully intact, while the printed text is crisp with no visible loss. A clear date window is positioned at three o'clock. The baton hands feature black central stripes and present in original condition with light aging. Under magnification, minor oxidation and aging are visible on the metal edges of the hands, and the lume plots show consistent aging appropriate for the decade.
Case and Crystal
The cushion-shaped case delivers strong seventies character, displaying honest wear consistent with age. There are visible surface scratches and handling wear across the stainless steel surfaces, though the case lines remain generally well-defined. The fixed gold-tone bezel shows moderate scratches alongside some edge wear and minor plating loss. The watch features its correctly signed crown bearing the Rado anchor logo, which shows normal handling wear. The dial is protected by a domed acrylic crystal that provides clear visibility, though it does exhibit some light surface scratches and minor crazing when viewed at oblique angles.
Movement
Inside beats the automatic caliber 2797. The movement features a bright and generally clean gold-tone finish with no obvious signs of heavy corrosion or damage. The rotor is correctly signed, and visible engravings include Rado, the caliber number, and Swiss markings. On the timegrapher, the watch recorded +47+50s/day. Running in operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the watch.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed two-tone jubilee-style bracelet. While heavily worn, it retains its original configuration complete with the signed clasp. There is significant plating loss on the gold-tone center links, as well as heavy wear and plating loss on the clasp itself. The bracelet likely exhibits stretch consistent with its age and long-term wear. It accommodates a maximum wrist size of 17.5cm.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The watch displays honest wear throughout its exterior components while housing a remarkably clean dial. The cushion case and gold-tone bezel show visible surface scratches and areas of minor plating wear. The crystal exhibits light scratches and minor crazing, and the hands show slight oxidation under magnification. The original two-tone bracelet shows significant plating loss and heavy wear, particularly on the center links and clasp. The movement is running in operational condition.
Dimensions
The case measures 37mm, and this measurement strictly excludes the crown.
Remarks
This Rado Garland stands out through its highly attractive silver sunburst dial and quintessential seventies cushion case geometry. Retaining its original signed bracelet and crown, it offers a thoroughly authentic vintage wearing experience characterized by distinctive two-tone styling.
