    About This Watch

Presented for auction by Second Vintage This striking 1970s Omega Genève immediately commands attention with a dramatic and extensive spider crazing pattern across its dark dial. Retaining its original signed strap, oxidized Omega buckle, and accompanied by its original guarantee papers dated 1978, this rectangular timepiece offers a compelling blend of distinct character and collector provenance. Brand: Omega Model: Geneve Reference Number: 511.0476 Serial Number: 38114438 Movement: Manual-wind Caliber 625 Dial: Dark dial with severe and extensive 'spider' crazing Case Size: 23mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold-plated, stainless steel caseback Production Year: 1974 Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: +10+14s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The dark base dial is defined by severe and extensive crazing and cracking across the entire lacquer surface, creating a highly distinctive "spider" dial character. Despite this heavy crazing, the applied Omega logo and printed text remain fully intact and legible. Simple white painted stick hands provide clear contrast against the textured background, with the paint remaining intact and showing no major flaking, complementing the visually complex dial. Case and Crystal The 1970s rectangular case profile is executed in gold-plated metal with a brushed top and polished flanks. The edges remain generally well-defined, showing light surface scratches consistent with normal wear. The stainless steel caseback exhibits minor handling marks. A gold-tone crown with a clear embossed Omega logo and well-defined knurling sits at the side. The flat rectangular crystal features beveled edges; it shows some light surface scratches but remains generally clear and does not obstruct the view of the dial. The bezel is integrated into the case design. Movement Inside beats the manual-wind Omega Caliber 625. The plates and bridges are clean, displaying a bright copper-tone plating, while the screw heads and jewels appear in excellent condition with no visible corrosion or significant tool marks. The movement is engraved with the Omega name, Swiss origin, 17 jewels, and the matching serial number. The timegrapher records a rate of +10+14s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with its original signed leather strap stamped with the Omega name and logo. The strap shows moderate wear and creasing, maintaining its authentic character. It is secured by a signed Omega buckle that exhibits heavy blued and purple oxidation alongside visible tarnish, highlighting its vintage age. Condition Good vintage condition. The overall presentation is defined by the striking spider dial and the well-preserved rectangular case geometry. The case shows light surface scratches, while the dial's heavy crazing is stable and visually compelling. The original strap and heavily oxidized buckle show expected moderate wear. The manual-wind movement is clean and, supported by the timegrapher reading, is performing very strongly. Dimensions The case size measures 23mm, and this measurement strictly excludes the crown. Remarks The dramatic spider dial transforms this classic Omega Genève into a distinctive visual experience. Complete with its original signed strap, oxidized buckle, and the original guarantee papers, this watch offers a fantastic combination of bold character and documented provenance. History The Omega Genève line was introduced in the mid-20th century to designate the brand's premium dress watches, eventually evolving into a broad and versatile collection by the 1970s. During this era, Omega experimented heavily with case geometries, producing elegant rectangular and tonneau profiles that reflected the bold design language of the decade. The Caliber 625 is a respected manual-wind movement known for its compact size and reliability, frequently utilized in Omega's slimmer dress models of the period.
