    About This Watch

Offered in this auction by Second Vintage This classic 1970s Omega De Ville is defined by its striking vertically brushed champagne dial and practical day-date complication, housed in a distinct cushion-shaped case typical of the era. Brand: Omega Model: De Ville Movement: Automatic Dial: Vertically brushed champagne with applied indices and day-date display Case Size: 35 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold-tone Production Year: 1970s Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: 25s, running strong and steady. Dial and Hands The dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, featuring a vertical brushed champagne finish. It displays applied indices with black inserts, crisp printing, and a clean day-date window. The stick hands feature matching black inserts and retain their lume tips, showing honest aging consistent with the watch's era, including minor oxidation visible under macro inspection. Case and Crystal The gold-tone cushion case presents better from the front, with polished flanks that display expected surface scratches. The reverse side is heavily worn, exhibiting significant plating loss and corrosion on the caseback edges and lugs, which reveals the underlying base metal. A domed acrylic crystal remains clear with minor surface wear. The watch is fitted with a gold-tone signed Omega crown that shows some visible wear. Movement The watch is powered by an automatic movement equipped with a day-date complication featuring an English day wheel. Timegrapher testing indicates 25s. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. Strap Fitted with a black leather strap featuring contrast stitching, showing light wear. The strap accommodates a maximum wrist size of up to 20 cm. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial remains remarkably clean and crisp, standing out as the strongest visual element of the timepiece. The case shows heavy wear on the reverse, with significant plating loss and corrosion exposing the base metal on the caseback edges and lugs, alongside surface scratches on the polished flanks. The hands display honest aging with minor oxidation. Supported by the timegrapher reading, the movement is running strong and steady. Dimensions 35 mm (excluding the crown) Remarks A highly wearable 1970s Omega De Ville with a sharply preserved brushed dial. The practical day-date complication and classic cushion geometry make this an appealing vintage timepiece for daily enjoyment. History The Omega De Ville line originally emerged as part of the Seamaster collection before becoming a standalone family in 1967. Known for its refined styling and variety of case shapes, the De Ville represented Omega's dedication to elegant, versatile timepieces. During the 1970s, the adoption of cushion cases and integrated styling became a hallmark of the era's design language, offering a distinct aesthetic that remains highly appreciated by collectors of vintage mechanical watches.
