Dial and Hands
The watch features a beautiful off-white eggshell dial that remains exceptionally clean for its age, showing only the faintest signs of natural aging under close inspection. The dial is adorned with applied silver-tone faceted dart indices and stylized Arabic numerals at the twelve and six o'clock positions, all retaining a bright, reflective finish. Just below the twelve o'clock marker sits the crisp black printed Benrus name and the iconic applied three-star logo, with "SELFWINDING" elegantly printed above the six. The alpha-style hands provide a striking visual contrast, as their original luminous material has aged to a deep, dark, and cracked patina, highlighting the authentic vintage journey of the timepiece. The sweeping center seconds hand remains clean and functional.
Case and Crystal
The 34mm case features a classic round profile with smooth, sweeping lugs and a polished bezel. As is typical for cases of this era with a stainless steel back, the chrome-plated mid-case shows honest signs of wear, including surface scratches, handling marks, and minor areas of plating wear visible primarily on the underside of the lugs. The domed acrylic crystal protects the dial and exhibits some minor surface scuffs along the periphery, consistent with regular use. The watch is fitted with a nicely proportioned, signed Benrus crown. The stainless steel caseback is heavily scratched from previous opening attempts but clearly displays its factory engravings, including "WATERPROOF," "DUSTPROOF," and "SERIES #7155."
Movement
Powering this timepiece is the Benrus Caliber DO 135, a 17-jewel automatic movement based on a robust Swiss A. Schild ebauche. The movement is cleanly signed on the rotor and presents well visually. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Timegrapher results indicate a deviation of -8 to -12 seconds per day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a period-correct black leather strap featuring prominent thick white contrast stitching, secured by a standard steel tang buckle.
Condition
This timepiece is in good vintage condition. The dial is wonderfully preserved, standing out as the highlight of the watch, while the hands display deep, attractive aging. The case exhibits normal, honest wear, including surface scratches and handling marks, with notable scratching present on the stainless steel caseback.
