Dial and Hands
The dial of this Rado Ticino is a visual highlight, featuring a complex vertical and horizontal linear texture that shifts dynamically in the light, transitioning from silver to deep blue at the outer edges. It is in excellent condition, appearing clean and free of significant spotting, moisture damage, or discoloration. The applied, faceted steel indices provide strong contrast and depth. The classic Rado rotating anchor logo is present below 12 o'clock, set against a red background, adding a vibrant pop of color. The original steel baton hands are clean, with a central sweeping seconds hand. A framed date window sits at the 3 o'clock position, displaying crisp red numerals. The "Ticino" script is elegantly printed in the lower half of the dial.
Case and Crystal
The 35mm stainless steel case features a highly distinctive, faceted tonneau shape that is characteristic of Rado's adventurous 1970s designs. The case displays honest signs of wear, with surface scratches and handling marks consistent with its age, but retains its strong, architectural lines and the sharp transitions between the brushed top surfaces and polished flanks. The original crown, signed with the Rado anchor, is correctly positioned. The crystal is clean and offers an unobstructed view of the intricate dial texture. The screw-down caseback still retains a portion of its original factory protective sticker, displaying the Rado seahorse logo and reference number 8229050A.
Movement
Powering this Ticino is an automatic movement, clearly stamped with caliber number 2824 under the balance wheel. The movement features a decorated rotor, signed "RADO 25 JEWELS." The movement appears visually clean. Running in vintage operational condition. Maintains the authentic mechanical character of the era. The timegrapher results indicate a performance of +46s to +53s/day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original integrated stainless steel bracelet, which complements the angular design of the case perfectly. The flat, wide links show normal signs of vintage wear, including surface scratches and slight stretching. The folding clasp is prominently stamped with the Rado name and anchor logo, confirming its originality. The bracelet is sized to accommodate a wrist up to 18.5cm.
Condition
This Rado Ticino is presented in good vintage condition. The case and bracelet show normal wear and surface marks expected from a 1970s timepiece, but the case geometry remains strong. The standout feature is the beautifully preserved textured dial, which remains vibrant and clean. The presence of the partial caseback sticker is a nice bonus for collectors.
