Dial and Hands
The dial presents a beautiful, even champagne tone with a very subtle, fine stardust patina developing across the surface, adding immense vintage charm. The applied, faceted silver-tone baton indices catch the light wonderfully, complemented by the applied Enicar Saturn logo just below 12 o'clock. The "Ultrasonic" text is crisply printed in black serif typography. The dauphine hands show a dark, oxidized patina that contrasts nicely against the lighter dial, while the simple sweep seconds hand completes the elegant layout. The dial is clean overall, free from significant spotting or moisture damage, showing only light, age-consistent character.
Case and Crystal
The 34mm stainless steel case features a classic, elegant profile with softly curved lugs. The case exhibits honest signs of wear, with light surface scratches and handling marks visible on the polished bezel and case flanks, consistent with careful use over the decades. The original crown, bearing the Enicar Saturn logo, is present and shows some wear to its outer edge. The caseback is a particular highlight, featuring the elaborate Enicar Seapearl engraving, though it shows numerous scratches and marks from previous opening attempts. The domed acrylic crystal is clear, with some minor surface scratches visible under harsh lighting.
Movement
Powering this timepiece is a manual-wind Enicar Watch Co. movement, featuring 17 jewels and an Incabloc shock protection system. The movement plates display a clean finish with gold-filled engravings indicating "Seventeen 17 Jewels" and "Adjusted." The inner caseback reveals the "EPSA STOP" compressor case patent markings, dating this specific case to July 1957 (7-57). Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. The timegrapher result is 19s/+24s/day.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a period-correct black leather strap with a simple steel pin buckle. The strap shows light wear but remains supple and ready to wear.
Condition
This Enicar is in good vintage condition. The case shows normal wear with scratches on the caseback. The dial has developed a very attractive, even patina. The hands show oxidation consistent with age. The movement is running and operational.

History
Enicar, founded in 1914 by Ariste Racine (Enicar is Racine spelled backwards), built a strong reputation for producing robust, high-quality timepieces. The "Ultrasonic" designation, introduced in the 1950s, referred to a pioneering cleaning process used on their movements, which allowed them to run longer without lubrication. The brand became famous for its Seapearl and Sherpa lines, which were used in various challenging expeditions, including the 1956 Swiss expedition to Mt. Everest. Today, vintage Enicar watches are highly prized by collectors for their distinctive designs, historical significance, and excellent build quality.
