Powered by the in-house caliber 505 automatic movement, this 1970s example retains its honest original character and offers excellent mechanical performance. Brand: Longines Model: Admiral Reference Number: 8294-1 Serial Number: 486085 Movement: Automatic caliber 505, 17 jewels Dial: Silver sunburst with applied indices and five-star motif Case Size: 35mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: 1970s Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Timegrapher: -10-15s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The well-preserved silver sunburst dial is defined by its crisp printing and applied indices featuring black inserts. The dial displays the classic five-star motif above the Admiral name, a signature of this premium model line. The matching stick hands also feature black inserts, maintaining excellent legibility. Under macro inspection, very minor spotting is visible on the dial surface, along with minor oxidation and surface dirt on the hands, reflecting the authentic original condition of the watch. Case and Crystal The 35mm stainless steel case displays honest wear, retaining its attractive geometry with a brushed finish visible on the top of the lugs contrasting against the polished sides. The smooth polished bezel exhibits light surface scratches consistent with the case flanks and lugs. The watch is fitted with a knurled crown signed with the Longines name and the winged hourglass logo. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, remaining clear with minimal visible wear and free from significant deep scratches or cracks. Movement Inside the case beats the Longines in-house caliber 505, a 17-jewel automatic movement. The mechanism presents a clean appearance with its automatic rotor intact, and there is no obvious corrosion or damage visible. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The timegrapher records a rate of -10-15s/day. Strap The watch is paired with a black leather strap featuring white contrast stitching. The strap shows light wear and complements the classic styling of the dial. Condition Excellent vintage condition. The watch presents beautifully with honest wear to the stainless steel case and a well-preserved silver sunburst dial. Minor spotting on the dial surface and slight oxidation on the hands are visible under close inspection, serving as honest indicators of age. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly. Dimensions The case measures 35mm in diameter, excluding the crown. Remarks This Longines Admiral combines an elegant silver sunburst dial with a robust in-house automatic movement. The presence of the original signed crown and the strong timegrapher results make this a highly capable and attractive 1970s timepiece. History The Admiral 5-Star line was launched by Longines in the early 1960s as a premium tier within the Admiral collection, distinguished by the prominent five stars on the dial. The reference 8294-1 was designed as a robust daily wearer, featuring a decagonal screw-down caseback with specific engravings denoting its durability. Powered by the reliable 500-series calibers, these models represent a highly regarded era of Longines watchmaking. Payment and Shipping Payment must be completed within 1–3 days after purchase.
