This purely 1970s masterpiece from Citizen represents the peak of Japanese "funky" design, combining a vibrant emerald green dial with a spectacular faceted crystal. The Seven Star V2 (Victory 2) was Citizen's answer to the demand for high-specification automatic watches with bold aesthetics, and this example captures that era perfectly. With its JDM-style features and robust 24-jewel movement, this timepiece is a striking conversation starter that balances collectibility with daily wearability.

Dial and Hands
The dial is the absolute highlight of this timepiece, featuring a mesmerizing emerald green to teal gradient finish that darkens slightly towards the edges. It is adorned with raised, faceted silver hour markers that catch the light beautifully. The dial text remains crisp and legible, displaying the applied Citizen logo and the distinct V2 branding. A framed day-date window is positioned at 3 o'clock, featuring a Kanji day wheel which adds significant appeal for collectors of Japanese domestic market watches. The hands are polished silver with original lume inserts that have aged naturally. The visual experience is dramatically enhanced by the original faceted "cut glass" crystal, which creates unique distortions and light play across the dial surface.
Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case features the sharp, angular geometry characteristic of 1970s Japanese watch design. The brushed surfaces on the lugs contrast well with the polished sides. There are visible surface scratches and contact marks throughout the case and bezel consistent with a watch of this age that has been worn. The original faceted mineral crystal shows scratches and wear on the high points of the geometric cuts, which is common for this specific style of glass, though it does not obscure the legibility of the dial. The crown is original and signed with the "CTZ" logo.
Movement
Powering this watch is a Citizen Caliber 7700 series automatic movement with 24 jewels. This high-jewel count movement was a step up in quality during the era, offering reliable vintage performance. The movement features a black rotor and appears clean. The watch is currently running between -10 and -19 seconds per day, which indicates healthy movement operation for a vintage mechanical timepiece.
Strap
The watch is fitted with its original Citizen signed stainless steel link bracelet. The clasp features the Citizen branding. The bracelet fits a wrist size of approximately 19,5 cm and shows stretch and surface wear matching the condition of the case. PLEASE NOTE: Small damage on one of the links. However the bracelet is very long (19,5cm) so removing a link would be the best option.
Condition
This timepiece is in good vintage condition. While the case and faceted crystal show distinct signs of history and use, the dial itself remains in excellent preservation with vibrant color and no visible moisture damage. The movement is functioning well within acceptable vintage parameters.
Dimensions
The case measures 36 mm in diameter excluding the crown, offering a classic mid-size profile that sits comfortably on the wrist.
Remarks
This Seven Star V2 is a fantastic example of the "Space Age" influence on watch design, where traditional round crystals were replaced with elaborate geometric cut glass. The combination of the deep green sunburst dial and the Kanji date wheel makes this a highly desirable configuration for enthusiasts of vintage Japanese horology.
History
Introduced in the late 1960s and popular through the 1970s, the Citizen Seven Star V2 line was designed to compete directly with Seiko's Lord Matic and Advan series. The "V2" moniker stood for "Victory 2," signaling an evolution in Citizen's automatic watchmaking technology. These watches were known for their robust movements and experimental case and crystal designs, marking a golden era where Citizen pushed the boundaries of visual flair in mass-market luxury.
